Paying for your case.

Whether you need simple 'next steps' advice to help you bring your claim to the Employment Tribunal, or would prefer a more comprehensive service to help you complete forms and make representations at your hearing, our employment solicitors can help.

What's more, we offer a free initial consultation where we will help you to work out whether it is worth pursuing your claim. If you decide to proceed, we can offer a range of hourly rate and fixed fee packages and, in some circumstances we are able to offer a 'no-win, no-fee' agreement.

Could your insurance cover your legal fees?

You may have insurance that will cover the cost of legal advice and representation. You may have a specific policy in place to cover this, or you may be covered by another existing insurance policy and you are not aware of this, it is therefore very important that you check all your various insurance policies such as your buildings and contents home insurance, any work insurance, your car policy or if you have critical illness or other forms of personal protection insurance.

If your insurance does cover legal advice but you are unsure as to what extent, or if there are any restrictions, or if you are simply unsure about your policy it is advisable to contact your insurance provider to confirm.

Compromise agreements

In order for a compromise agreement to be legally binding your employer must recommend that you take independent legal advice.  Employers will normally be expected to contribute towards the cost of seeking legal advice, The amount they provide will vary between companies but we will invoice your employer directly.

Fixed Fee Packages:

On many cases we may be able to agree on a fixed fee. The Benefit of a fixed fee is that regardless of how much time we have to spend on your case, you will not be charged anything more than the agreed fixed fee, so you never need to be worried about received an additional or surprise bill at the conclusion of your case. The best package for your will depend on the complexity of your case. Here are some examples of our fixed fee packages:

STAGE 1 - submitting your claim

We will take a detailed account of the claim you wish to bring, and offer comprehensive advice. We will provide you with a detailed advice letter setting out your instructions, our advice and opinion on the prospect of your case.

Then, we will draft your claim form and particulars of claim and submit this to the Employment Tribunal.

We will await the defence from your employer by way of an ET3 form, review and consider this and discuss the contents with you, advise you on how best to proceed with preparing your case, and put together a schedule of loss.

Price: £485 plus VAT

STAGE 2 - preparing for Tribunal

After the defence form has been received from your employer, we will have a clearer idea as to what your claim is and what your employer will be arguing, We will be able to help you to draft a witness statement, comply with disclosure directions from the Tribunal, assist in composing a bundle of evidence for submission to the Tribunal and undertake negotiations on your behalf with a view to reaching a settlement out of court if possible.

Price: £590 plus VAT

STAGE 3 - your hearing

If your case has not reached a successful settlement you will have to attend a hearing. This may be listed for one day or more and may last all day depending on the evidence presented and the number of witnesses to be called. 

If you were to pay by the hour, a typical fee could cost in excess of £1120 per day.  With our fixed fee you will not be charged any more than agreed even if we are representing you for the full day.

Hourly Rates.

Our current hourly rate is a competitive £134 plus VAT per hour.

If you wish to prepare and represent your case personally, you may still require some legal advice at various stages of your claim, and paying for advice by the hour may be the best option for you. If you choose to pay by the hour, we willonly charge for the time actually spent dealing with your case. We will not spend any more time on your case than is absolutely necessary so as to avoid any unnecessary cost for you where possible.  We will not incur costs without your permission.
